I Was An Ugly Middle Schooler đ
And other things totally relevant to you, I promise.
đ Whatâs up LinkedIn Lover,
To those of you who are new here â Welcome, Iâm glad youâre here.
To those of you who arenât â I finally sent out an email to my closest network plugging the newsletter. (About time, amiright?)
Anyways, the newsletter đ
Quick update on me: I presented at 1 Million Cups this morning regarding â you guessed it â my upcoming still-unnamed (đ ) course. If you missed it, you can see the replay here. (Facebook sign-in required.)
Iâm usually not the type to create content the day of publishing, but I knew this one needed to be fresh.
And, as rare as it occurs, I was right.
Not because Iâm some ultra-inspired, Mark-Twainâs-spirit-fills-me writer today, but because I had no idea what was going to surface in that session until it happened.
And boy, did it happen.
I found myself coming back to one simple lesson my most recent course facilitator, Nina Everflow, instilled in me last month:
Donât have everything ready before you launch. Your audience will tell you what they want to hear from you along the way.
It wasnât as if I didnât already realize the power of that message when she told it to me, I just hadnât realized how powerful it was across everything that I do.
For example:
âď¸ I had one goal when launching this newsletter: To share my experience building this course. Did I have a full-fledged growth strategy? Was I even sure youâd be interested in it if you didnât know me personally? No, not really đ¤ˇ
đ¤ When I first started posting on LinkedIn, I sucked at it. (Trust me, I looked recently. *Cringes.*)
đ And in building this unnamed course, I have an idea of what transformation I want my students to have â but I donât actually know if thatâs the transformation they need.
My point?
Start ugly.
Like middle school Sarah ugly đ
Trust me, I wish it didnât exist either.
Jokes aside, you really donât have to have it all figured out to start your next âthing.â
Youâll learn along the way.
In fact, I see power in not having any idea where to start, because then you have full capacity to think creatively đ§ â¨
You donât have to agree with me. Mostly, I just want you to consider what you know youâre really good at, and wonder if thereâs another way to do it that you havenât explored yet.
Maybe youâll find something interesting. Maybe youâll spite me for even suggesting it.
Either way, Iâll see you next week.
Same time, same place?
Sarah âď¸â¤ď¸
P.S. I still have some open spots for my first paid workshop tomorrow, Inside the Augmented Algorithm of LinkedIn. Itâs only $25. So, I donât know, take part in robbing me?
P.P.S. Okay, so I donât actually think youâre robbing me; I just think itâs a steal tbh.
